Basilica of Saint Mary IV

Since 1914, the Basilica of Saint Mary has been a cornerstone of the Catholic faith in Minneapolis. It became the first basilica built in America, honoured by Pope Pius XI in 1926. It is recognised as one of the finest examples of Beaux Arts architecture in the country.

To many of the locals of Minneapolis however, the Basilica is more than just a beautiful building. Its impressive stone walls shelter a warm community of people of all faiths and races and a refuge for the poor.
