Getting Old

Thu Feb 26, 2004, 2:48 PM
:pointr: Welcome

I’m getting old...

My bones creak these days and I even groan as I get up. To make matters worse, about half of the questions in ` honz12 journal entry "Symptoms Of Being Over 25" seem to make sense to me (which would be fine by me if I was over 25 but as I'm 19, presents me with many questions about my current lifestyle). I was training with my squad the other day and in the space of one length I lost 5 places (on my defence they were all going ridiculously fast given our rest plus swim times). To make matters worse I managed to more or less destroy my heel whilst swimming and so fell back to arms only work - to end up completely messing up my shoulder as well. I even seem to have the ability to get cramp in my feet these days - in arms only sets. Encouraging isn't it? My squad have even started the "old man" jokes on me - even my coach.

*sigh*

Such is life.

:pointr: Featured Deviant

Having joined DA earlier this month shapeless-kNt has been quick to show a lot of promise, submitting some quality pieces - especially in the realm of graphic design. I have no doubts that very soon he'll surpass my page views as his skills increase ever more. I know I'll be watching his progress very carefully...

Jungle out of the Man

Finding a single deviation out of the masses of top quality stuff that litters DA is a tough challenge. I wanted to choose something that wasn't from the "big guys/gals" seeing as they get enough exposure as it is. In the end I decided to go for this photo manipulation piece by ~ninjahamster. As a macro photo the composition is great, cutting off all unnecessary stuff surrounding the eye. I also really love the lighting, retaining much of the detail and although the photo does suffer a little bit of white burn out, the photo has been really well done. The black & white/colour combo may be getting a bit old, but I love how well it's been executed here with no jagged edges etc to give away the game.

HAHA, don't worry so much about the pains.... they could be growing pains instead of 'getting old' pains!! LOL. From your swimming you must be fairly fit and active so at least you can sleep well at night knowing that you are healthy :D
btw, thanks for the 'Featureds' got a new artist to watch now =]

:giggle: I told you all work and no play makes Alastair a dull boy. Don't worry so much, you're not getting old okie? I still love you ;)
Hey I've missed talking to you this week I hope everything else is ok and that I get to talk to you soon. Take care of yourself all right?
Best wishes!

Getting old?!!! :ohmygod:

Sarah :sprint: away... ( this is not a topic for her! =p =p )
and :sprint: back to ask: " What is this age thing? " =p

Take care, dear ;-)

Hehe, sometimes it's hard to tell if they are growing pains - especially during/after training... ;)

Your right though, my health is something I have always been pleased with. I weigh 9 stones, yet eat as if I were closer 90 stones. I get a lot of horrified faces, but most people don't understand that when you burn up a good meal or two training you need to find a way of getting back all that lost energy.

That's what 11 years of being a swimmer does to you.

That and make a coach out of you.

Let's just hope I never stop exersizing in SOME form for the rest of my life or one day I really will weigh closer to 90 stones...

Glad you've found a new deviant to watch mate :D. DA is a big big place so it's hard to find all the talent in here. I've always hoped that from me making featured journals like this one I might be able to help give some people that may be missed the exposure they deserve. Nice to see it's working!! :D

Yeah, I should learn to listen to you more often... Nice to know you still love me. At least I know that I'm not losing my looks in my old age ;).

Take care. :D

Whats with the age thing? Well nothing really... I don't care about my age at all to be honest - it's just an excuse for me to moan a little...

Take care Sarah...
