A flame dances silently in-front of my fingers. It flickers slightly from a draft of a near-by window. Such beauty. Such serenity. So fragile in nature. It’s fuel it finite and with only a slight whisper of wind it’s life may pass. Forever. A black carbonised stump is all that would be left.
Yet left unattended – given the right influences and the innocent flame that was becomes a roaring blaze. It’s fuel grows. As does it’s hunger. It’s smoke chokes our lungs. It’s heat burns our skin. Destruction. Death.
Not so innocent a flame.
Life is like a flame. So innocent at birth. So fragile. Yet it’s fuel is not finite. Given food, water and knowledge it too grows. Given the right influences, life too becomes a roaring blaze. Capable of destruction.
And death.
Yet a flame is capable of giving us warmth. It allows us to cook food. It helps create electricity that we so easily take for granted. For those that have gathered round a campfire during a bitter, cold night it brings warmth transcending a physical worth.
A flame treated carelessly brings pain.
A flame treated with care helps bring life.
Life is like a flame.
What fuel are you?
God I love my new camera. I'm sure that those of you who are watching me have probably figured that fact out themselves by now (sorry!!). I've been out with my camera twice and already extremely pleased with the quality of the photos I've managed to produce - both in terms of image and composition (due to the greater flexibility it's supplied me with).
I've made a few changes to the journal structure, which includes the reluctant decision to stop featuring my entire watch list on the journal. Sorry to everyone who's on my watch list, I hope you don't see this as me trying to support you any less than I have in the past, but the list was increasing at a fairly rapid pace. Instead I'll be featuring all my new watches in each journal entry. I encourage everyone to check out my watch list at the bottom. You'll really be missing out if you don't...
Speaking of which... I manage to acquire 6 new watches since my last journal entry. Wow. Your support really does mean a lot to me.
Having only joined on the 1st of March it is safe to say ~haydskies is fairly new to DA. That however can’t be said about his excellent photography skills. All his photographs seem to me to capture very faithfully the essence of the moment. Using interesting perspectives and clean composition his photographs seemed packed with emotion.
This striking piece of abstract photography by ~O-range really did get my attention. It’s interesting perspective, excellent lighting and (if you excuse the pun) its clean composition really do complement each other perfectly. It’s often hard to come up with original and interesting ideas in art and what really attracted me most to this excellent photo was the fact it used an object that we all encounter in our every day lives yet would probably never consider it’s photographic value. Excellent stuff!
Many other deviants are periodically featuring their favourite DA artists in their journals. DA is a huge place so it’s always good to see people supporting one another like this. It is meant to be a community after all...
If I have missed anyone or you know someone who also features deviants from time to time please do tell me so I can add them to this list.
